Red Lights curtains close

Very bad news for the men who going to Amsterdam to see naked ladies (prostitutes) on the windows. They all disappointed with the news. Amsterdam is set to lose a large chunk of its red light district, after the forced sale of a third of the buildings currently used for prostitution.
With its scantily-clad prostitutes posing in brothel windows and coffee shops oozing the pungent aroma of cannabis smoke, the red light district’s seediness has always been part of its attraction.
But the district is a magnet for petty criminals and, authorities believe, human traffickers, drug lords and mobsters – who take advantage of the situation to launder money.
Returned from Amsterdam only yesterday. I am a truly liberated woman but felt threatened by the men visiting the city as they were clearly only there for the sex, drugs and drink. I was shocked by the lack of children we saw even during the day but who really wants to expose them to the constant excess. It is not just the red light district, the windows have spilled into other parts of the city which is a shame.
What fab news. The more of these places that close the better then these girls will have to go and get themselves a proper job and start respecting themselves.
I don’t see how this will solve any of the ‘underlying criminality.’ By closing down the windows, the women will lose their jobs, yet the perpetrators of the targeted crimes will only be penalized from the trickle down of consequences. It seems that this action is actually geared towards re-framing the city’s image and is not an informed attempt to solve real problems. Furthermore, the idea that the women are “indifferent” is ridiculous. I have heard many expressions of outrage and others that simply appear indifferent, due to authorities round-about approach, which effectively impedes sex workers, ignores legal action directed towards pimps and other criminals, and will lead to concealed crime (since sex work will be removed from the public gaze). This is really an ideological campaign for establishing conservative roots in what once seemed to be an innovative and progressive liberal stance on an issue that others have been unable or willing to confront.
